This treatment includes a facial cleansing, the dermaplaning, and sunscreen application. It takes about 30 minutes on average and can be an add on to another treatment.

Dermaplaning lasts about three to four weeks depending on your rate of hair growth.

Results looks best for the first two weeks and then start to fade. This is a great procedure to do prior to an event or holiday as it will give your face a healthy glow and make your makeup application smoother. The skin will look more hydrated and dewy if you are using quality skincare during your course of treatment.

Dermaplaning is very safe. We use a sterile single-use blade to perform this procedure. This reduces chances of irritation, breakouts, and infection and eliminates the risk of disease transmission.

Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment. It is best performed at four-week intervals.

Not at all. Hair on the face is a type known as vellus hair, rather than the dark, thick terminal hair that grows elsewhere. Shaving does not in any way cause vellus hair follicles to transform into terminal hair follicles.

Some mild redness can be expected but not always. It’s perfectly fine and common to make an appointment during lunch and go right back to work after the treatment.

Try to avoid a ‘full’ makeup immediately after your dermaplaning treatment and let the skin breathe for the rest of the day.

If you need to wear makeup, you can, but your skin barrier is more open and may become irritated. Once your skin has had time to settle (24 hours), proceed with your make-up as normal.

While dermaplaning is considered to be an effective treatment for many skin conditions, it is important to avoid it if you’re currently taking retinoid medications such as Roaccutane, since these treatments may cause undue irritation and discomfort during the dermaplaning procedure. Dermaplaning should be delayed by three to four days if you’ve recently tanned or used any exfoliating scrubs to allow your skin time to heal. Highly sensitive skin (eg. Rosacea or keratosis) may find the treatment irritates your skin.

We cannot dermaplane someone who is highly sensitive, has pustular or active rosacea, acne, thick dark (terminal) hair, pregnant and diabetic clients.

Please stop using exfoliants 48 hours prior to the treatment: AHA acids, Benzoyl peroxide, Retinols and tretinoin, Enzymes, Azelaic acid and Adapelene

Quite the opposite, actually. A buildup of dead skin cells can clog your pores and hair follicles, which can not only cause spots but also block your skincare products from penetrating the skin, which is why exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow. But, if you already have an existing breakout, you will need to wait until it clears up before having dermaplaning.

There is no specific aftercare after dermaplaning. Keep the skin clean and always wear an SPF 50+.

You may find that you may need to use slightly more product than usual during your skincare regime as the product will penetrate the skin more effectively post dermaplaning.
