Polynucleotides

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are the most popular treatment right now in aesthetics. Originally used in general medicine, polynucleotides are a revolutionary treatment primarily made up of fractions of ultra purified DNA from salmon or trout.

These injectables have bio-stimulating properties that are scientifically proven to regenerate skin at a cellular level, creating a natural appearance without the voluminous effects of other injectables like dermal fillers.

Their skin boosting benefits are innumerable, covering both immediate and long term skin health.

Polynucleotides are proven to:
- Stimulate collagen production
- Reduce inflammation
- Hydrate and repair skin at a cellular level
- Improve skin elasticity
- Increase skin cell turnover

Polynucleotides are the ideal introduction in to aesthetic treatments as this regenerative skin booster improves the quality of your skin without changing your existing features, providing natural results.

How do polynucleotides work?

At Jessica Skin Clinic, we use the gold standard brand of polynucleotide known as Ameela® (previously Nucleadyn).

Ameela® is the new line of a natural polynucleotide based bio-stimulating gels created from Salmon DNA fragments. It contains a high viscosity gel for protecting and rejuvenating the skin.

It is not a filler or a toxin treatment, it’s an injectable bio-stimulant gel that activates the production of type-1 collagen and the regeneration of skin tissues to create an immediate lifting effect. Ameela® is the perfect anti-ageing treatment for those who feel their skin is lacking elasticity and want a firmer, more contoured appearance. It is a brand-new science with added benefits that can also be used alongside your other facial aesthetic treatments.

There are 3 main types of Ameela® polynucleotide products:

Ameela® Eyes Polynucleotides

This product is used for the upper and lower eyelids. It will smooth fine lines and wrinkles, improve circulation, under eye puffiness and dark circles and it will improve skin thickness and hydration.

Ameela® Rejuvenation Polynucleotides

This product can be used for deep tear troughs, on the face, neck, decolletage, hands and hair. It will improve elasticity, tightening and contour and it will improve fine lines, wrinkles and skin tone.

Ameela® Face Polynucleotides

This product is used on the face and jawline. It is similar to Ameela Rejuvenation but with a higher concentration of Polynucleotides.

The Science Of Ameela®

  • Moisturising effect:

Ameela contains high molecular weight polynucleotide chains. The strong moisturising ability is a result of the water retention capabilities of the water absorbing properties of nucleotides. This structure of the polynucleotide molecule reacts instantly with water molecules to hydrate the skin.

  • Free radicals:

The polynucleotide chains also act as an immediate scavenger action against free radicals. The chemical structures of the nitrogenous ring on the polynucleotides has an ability to react immediately with free radicals – which then neutralizes them. When the polynucleotides molecule is being degraded by the bodys own enzyme, we get smaller particles which retain the same properties as the whole polynucleotide molecule. The progressive degradation of polynucleotide molecules by enzymes present, accentuate the protection activity against free radicals.

  • Bio-stimulation:

Polynucleotides connect with multiple cell receptors, which initiates a cascade of reactions.

Most importantly attracting stem cells to the area, which has an strong repairing effect on the tissue. Also enhances the formation of new capillaries (angionesis). Changes the structure of the fibrilles in our tissue which results in instant tightening and contouring of the tissue. Here at the clinic we see skin cells immediately lift and tighten post procedure!

What happens when we inject Ameela®?

Injecting polynucleotides results in bio-structuring in ALL tissue layers such as bone, muscle, and fat tissue. This has a fast effect on the skin, giving a lift in the skin structure after just a few minutes.

How can polynucleotides enhance your appearance?

Polynucleotides are being used to reverse the ageing of tissues and repair scarring by tackling the concern from the source, in contrast to the traditional approach, for example with fillers, which focuses on treating symptoms. Some of the applications of polynucleotides include:

- Improving the tone and texture of skin
- Improving the thickness and elasticity of skin, particularly good for the thin skin under eyes and around the mouth
- Rejuvenating treatment for older skin to treat fine lines and wrinkles
- Preventative treatment for younger skin
- Rehydration for dull skin at any age
- Treating dark circles as an alternative to tear trough fillers
- Reducing inflammation to helps with conditions such as rosacea
- Treating hyperpigmentation, sun damage, scarring, stretch marks and acne
- Treating alopecia and hair loss
